MFC will assist you in the process of purchasing from a private seller* as follows:

  • Conduct the administration, verification and re-registration of the vehicle.
  • Ensure the technical inspection and roadworthy is done by the seller.
  • Ensure payment is made to the seller or other finance house.
  • Ensure the vehicle has an existing warranty or help you buy one.

What will you need?

Buyer documents:

The buyer will be requested to upload or email copies of below documents to P2PNEWBUS[at]mfc.co.za

  • Completed Application Form - Apply Online
  • A copy of your valid South African identity card/document
  • A copy of the front and back of your South African drivers licence
  • Proof of your income, not older than 3 months
    • Salaried individuals - latest 3 months payslips
    • Commission earners - latest 3 months payslips and latest 3 months’ stamped bank statements. No internet bank statements will be accepted
  • Proof of residence, such as a utility bill, not older than 3 months
  • The vehicle details, the sellers name and surname and their cell phone number.
  • Confirmation of fully comprehensive insurance cover on the vehicle being financed

Seller Documents:

The seller will be requested to email copies of the below documents to

  • A copy of your valid South African identity card/document
  • Proof of residence, such as a utility bill, not older than 3 months
  • The settlement letter if the vehicle is financed.
  • If the vehicle is paid up:
    • A paid up letter from financial institution
    • A copy registration document
    • The original registration document & signed Notification of Change of Ownership (NCO) form.
    • Proof of payment & purchase.
  • Proof of banking details (letter from Bank or branch stamped bank statements or cancelled cheque)
  • To get a roadworthy certificate and a technical inspection report, first call us on 0860 111 159 or send an email to P2PNEWBUS[at]mfc.co.za to arrange an inspection at the nearest DEKRA or another MFC-approved vehicle inspection centre.

What you need to note:

  • The seller must make sure that all outstanding license fees, traffic fines and toll fees are paid in full.
  • Personalised number plates must be removed by the seller prior to finalising transaction.
  • Once the new Vehicle Registration Certificate (NaTIS) has been received, the buyer will receive via email a completed Application for Licensing of Motor Vehicle (ALV) form to license the vehicle. Remember to take the ALV Form to your nearest licensing department within 21 days upon receipt of ALV form.
  • A private seller* is an individual. It does not include companies and or non-approved dealers.
